ChemoHero and Covid-19

Update - June 2020

Following a recent ChemoHero Trustees meeting we wanted to provide you with an update.

In order to continue to adhere to the social distancing guidelines, we are, unfortunately, unable to resume box packing sessions at the moment with volunteers and groups. We are also not scheduling any fundraising events at this time but please be assured that we are still busy planning and we look forward to when we can get the events in your diaries and fundraise and work with you again!

The boxes will continue to be packed by the Charity Trustees and four selected pre-screened individuals who will have to follow strict Public Health England guidelines. They will only be able to pack the boxes if fit and well and are not displaying ANY cold / flu like symptoms. Hand sanitiser will be available, and they will be required to wear disposable gloves. As normal, hand washing will occur at regular intervals but heightened precautions will be taken in this regard.

We will continue to review the situation and provide a further update at the beginning of July.

We have been extremely fortunate to be able to continue distributing our Boxes of Kindness at the Seamoor Unit, however, this would not have been possible without the help and guidance from the Northern Devon Healthcare Trust and all the staff at the Seamoor unit – THANK YOU!

And…… A big THANK YOU to all of you have fundraised for ChemoHero during “lockdown” resulting from the Covid 19 pandemic! We continue to be amazed at the level of support we receive, and we know that all the patients are appreciative of your efforts.

Please do get in touch if you are a patient at the Seamoor Unit undergoing your first Chemotherapy session and you do not receive a box. Please contact us by email at <
